Congrats on becoming a dad! I became one last October, right as deer season was ramping up, so I totally understand the hunting FOMO. I made it out for one afternoon, saw absolutely nothing, and was perfectly fine with that. Getting back home to my wife and daughter was more important. By the time turkey season rolled around, we were in more of a groove with her being a few months old by that time. Anyway, that's a long way of saying enjoy this time because it really is so very short and, once again, congrats on becoming a dad. It truly is the most amazing job we'll ever have.
We need all the good dads this world has to offer and you are certainly one of them! Nothing but blessings and luck to you and yours, teach them about the outdoors!
What gets me is that the pull didn't vanish, it relocated. You went in expecting to ache for dewy logging roads and instead found yourself aching to get back to the couch and the diaper bag. That's not FOMO defeated, it's FOMO redirected at the thing that finally outweighed the woods. The turkeys will gobble again next spring. A one-week-old is a country you only get to hunt once. Big-time congrats on fatherhood!

Came to the same conclusion that there will be more deer seasons, but I won’t get a second newborn season with my first child.
